Adding External Data
After the external data file is created, it MUST BE ADDED to the IntelliTrack Import/Export Utility as external data (see "External Data" for more information) in order to use it with an import specification or an export specification.
- Create the external data file and save it to a folder location on the PC.
- Click the External Data
button in the ribbon.
- The External Data window appears.
- New button: Click the New
button to add a new external data file to the import-export utility.
- The form is placed into add mode.
- Enter Name field (required): enter the name that you want to call this external data file.
- Select Type field: click the drop-down arrow and select the external data file type.
- Text File: a simple file used for data storage.
- Import: select this option if the external data is an import file.
- Export: select this option if the external data is an export file.
- File Name field (required): click the browse button to view the Open window and browse to the external data file location.
- Select the file and click the Open button to load the file into the File Name field.
- Delimiter Option (required): The Import-Export Utility uses a tabbed file or a comma file.
- Tab Option: mark this option if the file that you are loading is a tabbed file.
- Delimited text files (.txt) in which the tab typically separates each file of text.
- Comma Option: mark this option if the file that you are loading is a comma file.
- Comma separated values text files (.csv) in which the comma character (,) typically separates each field of text.
- Tab Option: mark this option if the file that you are loading is a tabbed file.
- Click the Save
button to save the external data selection and load it into the utility. (If you do not want to add this external data, click the Cancel
button to close the External Data window without saving the external data.)
- The External Data window closes.
- The external data is now available as an External Data option for the import/export specification.
- Click the Exit
button to close the External Data form.
Editing External Data
External data may be edited; see "Editing External Data" for more information.
Deleting External Data
If the external data is not being used, it may be deleted; see "Deleting External Data" for more information.
